PANIC DEVICE OPTIONS: ALL GLASS PANIC DEVICE DOORS:
Panic devices are interior push bars for exterior doors that serve the dual purpose of meeting emergency egress code requirements and act as decorative interior push handles. At PRL we offer two panic device designs; our PL-100 panic device that latches into the door header and our *PL-110 panic device that latches at the floor.
The PL-100 panic device is an L-shaped 1-1/4” tubular handle mounted to the inside of the door. It has a roller latch at the top of the tube that latches into a strike housing at the door head. The tube has a pivoting action at the horizontal area of the handle.
Both Series of Panic door systems accentuate glass entrance doors with its contemporary, minimal 1-1/4” tubular housing to accommodate over 100 precision and manufactured fitting components engineered and mechanically synchronized for safe panic function. Many door style configurations that include narrow full frame entrance and custom applications are available, choose from a wide range of contemporary exterior pulls and adaptable handles, custom TVS header, and electric strike can also be utilized with this glass panic door system.
When someone exits and pushes on the lower area of the panic door handle the pressure on the push bar activates an actuator post that retracts the latch at the top of the panic tube. When the push bar is released the latch springs back up and secures the door. This allows the door to be secured from the exterior at all times while always remaining free to exit from the interior.
The panic door handle can be equipped with a keyed cylinder lock housing or an electric strike mounted into the strike housing. Using a keyed cylinder lock the panic door handle can be security-locked for entry at night while allowing free exiting from the interior at the same time. Controlled entry with card key readers, or other similar access systems, can be used by adding an electric strike mount at the head.
PRL’s panic devices are equipped with a dogging feature. When activated it allows the latch to be held open throughout the day so the panic device simply acts as a push handle. When un-dogged the panic device returns to a panic door securing exterior entry. For secure 24/7 access the dogging feature can be deactivated prohibiting exterior access at all times.
* To ensure compliance with ADA/handicap access regulations please check with building codes prior to ordering the PL-110.

An exterior pull handle is not required to lock the interior panic device from exterior access. Thus the exterior pull handle can be completely independent of the interior panic device allowing unlimited exterior pull handle options. If the purpose of the door is to be an exit-only door it can be fabricated without an exterior pull.
Panic Series Pull Handles:
Made from 1 ¼” diameter tubing to match our interior panic devices and hardware PRL designed our Panic series pull handles. Our best-selling exterior pull handles for emergency egress systems are the A, D, F and L style pulls.A Style Panic Series Pull Handle:

To match the interior panic device to the exterior handle PRL offers the D style exterior handle. This handle is an exact match so the interior panic device handle is a mirror image of the exterior handle, thus creating unison and a simple, unhindered, appearance. Constructed of 1 ¼” diameter tubing.F Style Panic Series Pull Handle:
To accommodate doors up to 120” tall and increase door strength PRL offers our F style exterior handle. Our F style handle is a full height tubular bar, constructed from 1 ¼” diameter tubing, which runs from the top to the bottom of the door in line with the panic device’s vertical rod.The F style pull not only gives all glass doors an elegant appearance but also reduces deflection and adds rigidity to the glass. For this reason the F style exterior pull handle is frequently used on taller glass doors.
When the F style pull and PL-100 interior panic device are combined with ¾” tempered glass it can be used on a maximum door height of 120”. PRL is the only panic hardware manufacturer in the industry to have a tubular panic system for doors up to 120” tall!
ADA Note: The F style pull handle is designed to run down the door and attach at the bottom rail. Please consult with local/state building codes and regulations prior to ordering as this design may not comply with ADA regulations.
Thresholds are recommended at floor strike applications. Floor mounted strikes can be a trip hazard.
L Style Panic Series Pull Handle:
To accommodate ADA and handicap access codes PRL designed the L style exterior pull handle. Constructed from 1 ¼” diameter tubing this handle is an exact replica of our F Style pull handle but does not extend to the bottom of the door.
